Self-assembly

Lanthanide complexes can act as hosts for complex anions. As such, we can use molecular design to make binuclear complexes that act as hosts for specific guests. Control of cavity size shape and conformation can all be used to define and optimise selectivity for a given guest. We’ve also recently begun to extend such self-assembly to the formation of quarternary complexes with two different guests.
